Colombian culture


Typical handicrafts are prized in the world: the backpack Arhuaco the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, hat vueltiao the plains of Cordoba, San Jacinto hammock in Bolivar, lacquer objects Pasto in Nariño, ceramics Ráquira Boyaca, are examples of popular creations compete in beauty with the works of art called worship.
Colombian music has enormous variety. The Andean region, of Hispanic heritage, is based on the tones of the guitar, tiple, and the mandolin, but south of the country is enriched with flutes and drums of the oboes.

On the Caribbean coast has been imposed for decades vallenato on ancestral rhythms like cumbia and bullerengue and Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena champeta gain strength and reggaeton.
Afro Pacific region, with its currulao and Alabao, bases its strength on drums and marimba, with a melancholy tone of Indian origin. Indigenous groups in the Amazon have flutes and drums yurupari maguaré, both sacred. Highlights, including carnivals, parties and festivals:
Carnival of Blacks and Whites in Pasto earlier this year; Manizales Fair in January; Carnaval de Barranquilla in February; International Theater Festival of Bogotá that every two years, coincides with Holy Week Festival Vallenato Legend in Valledupar, in late April; in June, the Folk Festival in Ibague and the National Pageant in Neiva Bambuco; in August, the Feria de las Flores in Medellín; in November, the crews of St. Martin in the Meta; the celebrations of the Independence of Cartagena; and the Feria de Cali at the end of the year.
